Jacques Cousteau study and research on marine life spawn the interest in people all over the world and developed a demand for diving gear in the early 50’s. He also invented the aqua lung which revolutionized diving. As a result of publication of National Geographic of Jacques Cousteau’s work as well as his televised, diving became mainstream. Sales of diving masks, aqua lung, dry suits and other diving gears went up.

A diving mask first spawned the interest of Jacques Cousteau in marine study. In his mid 20’s, he was given a diving mask. He was so awestruck with what he saw underwater that he decided to invent a device that would allow him to breathe underwater. That’s when he decided to build the aqua lung.
